DataNucleus is an Open Source project, with the software released under the Apache 2 License. Whilst DataNucleus has a core team of highly skilled developers, it also benefits from the input of external groups. We actively encourage user participation in the development process. Indeed, if a customer wished to sponsor or develop a DataNucleus feature we would provide the necessary development-level support for this to be efficiently pursued.
